Write About Things that Anyone Would Read About

When you’re thinking of what to write about in your next article, make sure it resonates with anyone and everyone

I’ve been writing online for nearly a decade and based on my personal experience, I’ve learned that the articles that ended up being the most successful, most read, and most well-received were the ones that anyone and everyone could relate to— articles that many readers were able to respond to by saying, “Wow, this was totally relatable” or “This is exactly how I feel”.

Those articles were so successful and so well-received because readers found something in there that they could relate to or understand on some level. And as humans, we long for that feeling of mutual understanding and empathy.

We crave it. We need it. We want to read those stories.

Which is exactly why we should be writing more about these things that anyone could potentially find themselves wanting to read, regardless of the topic.

Some topics are just timeless

There’s a reason why certain topics and certain tags on Medium, such as “Advice” or “Personal Growth”, are significantly larger and more popular than others. It’s not because they’re broad and general, but…
