Why Bullshitting is a Necessary Life Skill

Ironically enough, I’d like to kick off this article by saying that honesty and integrity are two of the biggest pillars of my life. Growing up in a Christian home, these ideals were heavily ingrained in my life whether I liked it or not. But the thing is, honesty and integrity didn’t always work in my favor when it came to certain aspects of life.

As I got older, I realized that “getting ahead” in your career didn’t revolve around the fundamentals of honesty and integrity. In fact, it often seemed that many people excelled in their career by doing quite the opposite.

It seemed that there were a lot of people out there who veered more in the direction of fudging the truth — or more-so, telling versions of the truth. Bullshitting, so to speak. And I eventually learned that bullshitting was a pretty effective tactic. I’d even go as far to say that it’s actually a necessary life skill.
