What to Do While You’re Waiting for a Breakthrough
You may be down right now, but you’re not out
Feeling like you’re stuck in a rut can be one of the most frustrating periods of time in our lives. Although every season isn’t necessarily meant to be a time of hyper-growth, the feeling of wanting to be somewhere further along the way, but not knowing how or when you’ll actually get there can be extremely discouraging — especially when it’s happening in real time. I know because I’ve been in this particular season of my life for nearly four months now.
After losing my job over the summer — a company that I had been with for over six years — the journey to landing a new one has been a long and winding road…and frankly, I’m still on it. I do however feel like I’m beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel and the tides are starting to turn in my favor. But, if you asked me a few weeks ago, I wouldn’t have been singing the same tune.
Getting out of the mindset of feeling sorry for myself has given me an entirely different and more uplifting perspective. A few weeks ago, you would have heard from someone who had lost all hope. Someone who was depressed, defeated, and downright beaten down after the number of rejections and false hope I had received week after week.
