We Must Fearlessly, Aggressively, and Unapologetically Go After Our Dreams
We must know that when there’s a will, there truly is a way
As we get older, we enter new stages of life. We outgrow friends, places, and phases. We shed old skin and grow into new skin — For many of us, it often seems as though we have to leave past versions of ourselves behind.
Of course, in many cases, it’s often necessary when it comes to maturity. After all, we have to learn from our mistakes based on our past experiences. From there, we become wiser in the decisions that we make in the future. And this is a completely normal part of life — leaving the past behind.
However, just because we leave behind our old selves doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to also leave behind our old dreams.
We often think that age is a direct indication of ability — That getting older means becoming incapable, unqualified, or past due; that getting older means that we’ve outgrown certain hopes or dreams.
Society often tries to tell us when we’ve reached a specific cutoff time. They try to tell us that we’ve “reached our limit” or that we’re “past our prime”.
But, getting older has absolutely nothing to do with our odds of achieving something that we set our minds to achieve.
We must know that when there’s a will, there truly is a way.
“If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.”— Bruce Lee
Instead, we must fearlessly, aggressively, and unapologetically go after our dreams.
We must rid ourselves of the mindset that “it’s too late” or “the opportunity has passed”. We must ignore the pressures or judgements that society puts upon us.
We must silence the negative thoughts that are in our head, telling us to give up on a silly dream that we once had.
Too often do so many talented people, even people whom I know personally, give up on a dream that they’ve been trying to pursue just because they never reached the point that they wanted to be.
But, what they didn’t know is that they’re just not there yet.
“The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens. Don’t give up.”
It’s completely understandable to say that life often gets in the way. We all get busy. Our priorities often change with age.
It’s understandable that we have responsibilities to uphold, that we encounter setbacks, and that we have to make sacrifices in our lives.
But, despite all of the people and things that we tend to make time for in our lives, we must not forget to also make time for ourselves.
We must remember that despite all of the achievements that we witness in the world or the dreams that we encounter come true, we have dreams of our own too. And they deserve a chance to shine.
Let us not forget the dreams that we once dearly held onto. Let us not give up on them.
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” ―Thomas Edison
