Totally get where you’re coming from Stephen Walker! I received a lot of feedback on this article in particular, with some people agreeing and some disagreeing on the topic of perfectionism when it comes to writing.
From what I’ve gathered, it all depends on your personal preference — Some of us have a different style, some of us care a lot about what the end-product look like while others don’t give a damn at all. It all comes down to what you want to put out there.
I personally am very type A and would rather have things buttoned up before hitting the publish button, but that’s just me.
I do, however, think that some level of professionalism should be maintained because you never know who is reading. The way I see it, if it’s a Writer or Editor that I could potentially work with in the future, I don’t want to have any spelling or grammatical errors, improper use of punctuation, etc. that could potentially jeopardize their critique of my work. But again, that’s just me :)
Thanks for your feedback though — I do thoroughly enjoy getting responses, no matter what the stance it!
