The other day, I caught up with a college friend whom I haven’t talked to in about four years. It was no surprise to me, but it ended up being a two-hour phone conversation.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can fit four whole years of your life into a simple two-hour phone call, but it always happens like that. And for the most part, we covered pretty much everything.

We of course left out many of the fine details that as it relate ms to the mundane ins and outs of everyday life where not a lot happens happens. We just covered the big stuff.

I mainly briefed them on my major life events over the past four years— my engagement, marriage, losing my Dad, moving out of the city, and becoming a soon-to-be Mom. An hour later, it took an existential turn and we got into talking about happiness.

It pivoted from a conversation about work, where they went into an in-depth explanation of their recent achievements in the world of aerospace engineering — I didn’t understand a single word of it. But it did make me realize how entirely differently we view work and how passionate they were when they talked about their job as opposed to how little I care about what I do for a living.
