Thanks for the response, Ellarwee — I was hoping to receive more uplifting or supportive remarks, but I appreciate you at least responding at all.

Is it too much to hope or dream of a world where we can strive towards equality rather than inequality? If you’re saying that we should just “accept” the inequality, then that’s essentially saying to throw in the towel and give up on the idea of such a world all together, which I will not.

For background, I never thought that I was “above” being singled out. I am simply just sharing my words and my experience here. I can’t help how I feel in response to these occurrences. I would think that other people who have been in a similar situation would be find a way to relate, rather than criticize.

Rather than making someone feel bad for being shocked about an encounter like this, I’d think that it would be more helpful to give them solace rather than criticism, no?
