Stop Rushing to Publish Everything You Write

Trust the process

I was recently standing in line to order a salad at Sweetgreen when I looked up at the wall to see a quote on it which read,

“Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise” — Frank Ocean

I had been going to the same exact Sweetgreen location for nearly three months now and this was the first time I ever noticed that quote up there.

For some reason, it really resonated with me and got me thinking about the writing process.

When it comes to writing, I’m one of those people who gets very anxious to hit the “Submit” button once I finish drafting an article — And in life in general, I’m typically a very antsy person.

Sometimes, I even rush through proofreading my work because I’m so excited to just get it out there already — It’s a huge flaw of mine.

It’s as if I’m playing a game against myself where only I am the winner or the loser — As if I’m racing against the clock to publish anything and everything as fast as I can.

But, that’s obviously a terrible process.
