Relationships Are About More Than Just Being In Love

The foundation of any romantic relationship should stem from a foundation of friendship

When you think of a strong and healthy relationship, what are the first things that come to your mind?

Right off the bat, you might be coming up with a quick list in your head that includes elements such as communication and honesty — at least, those are some of the things that initially pop in my head. And those are indeed factors that certainly lead to a successful relationship. However, if you specify the nature of the relationship as a romantic one, then that list might change a bit.

Often times, when people are asked what makes for a strong and healthy romantic relationship, most people might initially say “love” as their first answer. Because what’s a romantic relationship if the two people involved aren’t in love?

Love is surely an extremely important aspect to any romantic relationship…but, it’s not everything. It’s not the glue that will hold an entire relationship together, no matter how much you love the other person.

To be frank, I’m a huge hopeless romantic. I’ve lived and breathed by the notion that love conquers all. And it does. To an extent.
