Should You Write About Only One Topic?

For some writers, the one topic that they specialize in is really all they need…But, for others not so much.

I recently finished two articles for the first time in a month. Due to current life circumstances and random unforeseen personal emergencies, I was hit with a bad case of writer’s block during the month of July, which resulted in a bit of a dry spell. Nonetheless, I’m trying to get the creative juices flowing again and publish a few good pieces again.

The articles that I wrote this week were inspired by the main event of my life from this past year — the birth of my daughter. And now, it feels like every other topic seems to fall at the waist side. But, rightfully so. After all, she’s my greatest pride and joy.

Yet, I can’t help, but be bothered by the fact that my train of thought has been so one dimensional lately now that I’m a Mom. Surely, I have other provoking thought, ideas, and topics to write about?

Well, to be honest, I don’t. At least not at the moment.

You always hear the saying that people write best about what they know. Well, right now, being a mom is what I know. Being a mom is currently my biggest priority, the new main pillar of my core identity, and the thing I can’t stop thinking…
