If You’re a First-Time Home Buyer, Here are Some Basic Terms You’ll Want to Know
Like any new experience, there’s a huge learning curve
One of the many things that the pandemic has shed light on is the luxury of having enough living space. After residing in New York City for the past decade, I had become rather accustomed to the confines of small-space living.
However, after getting married and starting to think about our future and the bigger picture for our family, I realized that small-space living, although doable, isn’t necessarily comfortable. And so, the natural next step that my husband and I took was embarking on the long and winding journey of house-hunting.
We started entertaining the idea of buying a home about a year ago, but it’s only within the past month that we’ve really invested in our search. Initially, we did some firsthand research (aka Google search) and learned a bit about the process and what to expect. We eventually took the leap of actually looking at homes that we were interested in and getting into conversations with realtors and mortgage brokers.
As first-time home buyers, it was pretty overwhelming in the beginning, but I think we’re starting to get the hang of it. And although we’re nowhere near closing on a house, I do feel like we’re a bit more…
