I Won’t Apologize for Constantly Sharing My Articles
Because somebody has to — even if it’s just me
September has been a busier-than-average writing month for me — I’m not too sure why. It could be because I’ve been so heavily focused on marathon training that I’m in need of a creative outlet or the fact that I’ve just been more active on Medium lately. Whatever the case, it’s caused somewhat of a reboot in my creative flow.
Prior to September, I had only published two or three articles each month for the past few months. This month, I’ve published eight thus far (nine if I were to include this one). However, not all of them have necessarily been “home runs”, which I’m okay with.
A majority of them were not selected to be curated within any topics — Honestly, only three out of the eight articles I published this month were which has resulted in a smaller opportunity for the non-curated articles to gain much exposure. Plus, if you don’t have a massive following and your article doesn’t get curated on top of that, it’s likely that your article will be lost and forgotten in the Medium world, with a very slim chance for it to ever be discovered by a reader.
And that’s where the author has to do more of the leg work when it comes to shameless self-promotion.
For full-disclosure, I am not an extremely successful Writer in the vast spectrum of the writing world — And frankly, I’m not all too ashamed to admit that. I have a full-time job (completely unrelated to writing) to support me financially. I write mostly as a hobby and for the pure fact that writing brings me insurmountable joy. Though, call me a fair-weather Writer or whichever name you’d like to use, but I can admit that I write very much based on my emotions.
I have phases when I’m constantly pouring my heart out and phases when I hardly have anything to say. Either way, it all comes out eventually. So, when I’m in the phase where I’m constantly spewing out word vomit (like right now), I have to also do my due diligence in sharing that word vomit in the off chance that someone potentially benefits from it.
Since I’ve been publishing articles so frequently, I’ve in turn been incessantly…
