I Was Skeptical About Working with a Career Coach — Here’s What I Learned After Trying It

I recently had my first experience working with a career coach. It wasn’t by choice. In fact, it was arranged by my company. And I’m not going to lie, I had my hesitations about coaching. I was definitely skeptical towards the need for it and I pretty much grounded myself in a fixed mindset of wondering, “what could a career coach offer me that I haven’t already learned?”

Well, it turns out, there was a lot I needed to learn.

It wasn’t necessarily things about my career or work that I learned specifically — yes, I did learn about those things too — but, it was more so that I learned a great deal about myself. And I’m happy to have been proven very wrong.

Working with a career coach was probably one of the best things that I could have done at this point in my career and for anyone who’s curious about the experience, here’s what I learned.
