I Don’t Have a Writing Niche — Does that Make Me a Bad Writer?

I recently read an article that Medium Creators published, which discussed the importance of finding your “writing niche”. In summary, the article raised several thought-provoking questions to help you find your writing niche (if you haven’t found one already).

As I read through each of the questions, I quickly realized that I myself don’t have actually a writing niche.

Sure I have some recurring themes, but I‘ve never really honed in on one particular topic because most of the time when I’m writing, it comes from a place of urgency or necessity — a recent event, a troubling situation, or just something that I really needed to get off my chest.

My article topics were never premeditated. Instead, they originated from thoughts that just happened to find their way into words and transform into one article.
