How to Quickly Turn Around a Bad Morning
We can turn it around once we just change our attitude towards the situation
Bad mornings. We all have them.
I’m actually having one this morning — And yes, I am writing this article in the midst of this perceived “bad morning”.
In the grand scheme of things, this morning was really nothing dire. There were no life-threatening conflicts, no bad news received, and no tragedies.
Instead, it was just a string of minor events that threw off my morning ever so slightly to the point where I’m kind of just thrown off for the rest of the day.
This morning, I woke up much later than I had planned (granted, it’s Friday, so I’ll cut myself some slack) — I stayed in New Jersey last night, so I’m commuting into New York City via train to go to work.
Since I woke up late, in turn, I ended up taking a much later train than I had hoped. And of course, this later train was running late.
When I finally get on the train and settle into my seat, I hear the train conductor announce that it’s a local train and that the express train was directly behind us and would eventually pass the local train.
So, then I get off the train that I am on.
A few minutes later, as I am standing on the platform waiting for the next train, I realize that I had left my ticket on the seat of the local train that I was on before.
Talk about bad luck, right?
And all of these things were simply ripple effects of the initial minor event of waking up late.
So, now that I am finally currently on the train again, flustered and frustrated that I’m running so late to work, the woman sitting next to me was kind enough to tell the train ticket collector about what had happened to my ticket.
He let it slide and I didn’t have to waste my money on another ticket.
And there ends my perceived “bad morning” — A few unfortunate things happen and I’m already discouraged.
But, today does not have to be a bad day just because a few things went wrong.
Often times, we tend to think that it’s written in stone when a bad morning, a bad day, a bad week, or even a bad year (or few years) happens to us.
But it is not written in stone.
We can turn it around once we just change our attitude towards the situation.
Maybe things won’t get instantly better, but the way we handle definitely it will. In turn, that could create ripple effects that turn everything around.
The thing is, when things are going well, life seems to be so much easier.
But, life is life — It’s what you make of it.
Just make it good and things will eventually get good. I promise you that.
