A few nights ago, I had a hard time falling asleep (which has become pretty routine as of lately). However, instead of giving my eyes the rest they deserve from digital devices, I did quite the opposite and signed into Netflix instead to pass the time until I got tired. That obviously didn’t help at all, but I did happen to stumble upon a good stand-up comedy act by Sheng Wang.

For those of you who don’t know him, Sheng Wang is a Taiwanese-American comedian from Texas. And frankly, before watching him on Netflix, I didn’t know who he was either. However, he was introduced by Ali Wong — a favorite comedian of mine — so I had to assume he was good.

A few minutes into his act, I was already cracking up. And I’m not sure if it was because of my internal bias to the fact that he’s a fellow Asian-American or the fact that his jokes just landed with me, but either way, I thought he was hilarious.

Perhaps my favorite part of his act was when he talked about his inability to finish reading books quickly. I found this to be extremely relatable, which is ironic to say as someone who’s a self-proclaimed Writer.
