How Badly Do You Want the Life You Think You Want?
Are you doing everything in your abilities to get to where you want to be?
We all talk a lot about our hopes and dreams. We talk about our vision of what we want our future to look like. We talk about the goals that we want to accomplish. We talk a lot about all of these things — And they’re all great things to aspire for.
However, often times, the key thing that we leave out in all of this talk of what we want is the “how” in addition to the “what”.
It’s always going to be much easier to fantasize and daydream about an alternate universe where we get everything that we’ve ever wanted; where we are actually living the life that we imagine in our heads.
However, imagination is only fiction until we decide to write the real story for ourselves.
Try this. Think about all of the things that you really want in your life. Then, think about all of the things that are stopping you from attaining them.
Write all of this down.
Now, ask yourself, “How many of these things are within my control?
If you say none, then you’re fooling yourself. Yes, you can’t necessarily control the random assortment of things that life throws at you. You can’t control the cards you are dealt, but you can control the way in which you respond and react to them.
You can change your circumstance.
The thing is, we just don’t often know how to or sometimes don’t even care to find out way how. We often feel too content with the life that we’re in; too familiar with it. We’re content with the comfort of the way things have been and what we’ve always known to be true.
But, nobody ever got anywhere or made any progress with that mindset. If that were the case, then we as a civilization would not be where we are today.
If there is a different life that you want to lead or a specific goal that you want to accomplish or a dream that you wish to come true, then you need to first ask yourself this question,
How badly do you want the life you think you want?
Are you willing to do everything it takes? Are you willing to risk it all? Are you willing to step outside of your comfort zone?
If your answers to these questions are all ‘no”, then you don’t need to explain any further. You don’t need to make excuses. You don’t need to justify anything.
If your answers are no, then just know that the likelihood of you leading the life that you want to lead, or accomplishing your goals, or fulfilling your dream, is pretty slim.
You can’t get anywhere based off of pure luck in life. You can’t expect to be handed everything that you’ve ever wanted.
You have to work for it — And that requires your time, effort, and commitment.
If you’re not willing to give that, then regardless of what your hopes and dreams are, you don’t want it badly enough. If you did, then you’d be doing rather than talking about it. You’d be making it happen.
