Can an Article Succeed Outside of a Publication?

There’s no guarantee how or where an article will succeed. Sometimes all it takes is good timing and a bit of luck.

In recent months, I’ve written a great deal about the drastic drop in my Medium stats — particularly related to my partner program earnings. Again, I was never on this platform to write for money, but rather just the pure love of writing. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t miss the larger amounts of pocket change. I definitely do.

What I’m more curious about isn’t necessarily just the drop in my monthly earnings, but more-so the reasons for why my views and reads are significantly down.

Based on other Writers’ points of view, many people point out that it’s due to a combination of the change in algorithm along with the over-saturation of content of the platform — both of which are extremely valid and legitimate reasons.
